Nutrition Surveys(I)


Abstract
Few nutrition surveys were reported in the past years. K.Y.Lee, R S. Chai, ICNND etc. reported the result obtained from the. national nutrition surveys ¢¥in 1961, 1956, 1957 respectively.
Little is known, however, on ¢¥the recent nutritional status- of the Korean rural population. This surveys, as the first year program, conducted for the randomly sampled 22 families 0150 individuals) of Jang . Am Myon, Bu yo Kun, Chung Nam province, a supposed typical Korean farming area, ,during the. period of;,-July: `22 to 27 (6 days). This survey included the food consumption, parasitological examination, and questionnaire. The methods of the survey followed mostly by those described in the Manual for Nutrition ,surveys., by the.
I aerdeparimental Committee on Nutrition for National Defense. The¢¥following 6 .tables and 2¢¥fig4res showing.-the results obtained in this survey. According to the results,` the people of the rural area should be reconsi dered on. several points for: their -slight shortage of calorie and protein ,intake are shown in the table as the result of the survey, and ¢¥it may be indicated the need -of increased intake of them and the protein of better . quality. preponderance of -grains intake is one of the point to be improved upon.
Intakes of Vitamin A is¢¥ not low and its source is mostly green vegetables. The very needed, :problem of all is to Wighten .the ignorant of nutrition.
